When it comes to fashion – one thing will never change, and that’s the fact that it’s always changing (see what we did there?). And while all fashion trends come and go (and sometimes back again), the real styles that stand the test of time are the ones that make the most sense.

Sure, we can understand the logic of a hat. It covers bald spots, it protects your head from the sun, and it can look cool. Then there is the recent fashion trend – the towel skirt. It’s exactly what you’d think it is – a towel being used as a skirt. Obviously – it’s bizarre. But the question remains – does it have legs?
How Did the Towel Skirt Start?
Before we work out if this fashion trend will last, we need to understand how it came to be in the first place. Balenciaga’s spring/summer collection presented this absurd item of clothing. It’s beige, it can be worn by men and women, and it costs just under 900 bucks!
This begs the question – can you get away with simply taking one of your own towels and pulling off the look instead of spending a good chunk of your salary on basically the exact same thing?

Truth be told – Balenciaga has developed a reputation for trolling its fans with unorthodox fashion statements. You only have to look back on the fully destroyed sneakers that cost more than $1600 per pair.
Will the Towel Skirt Last?
It’s difficult to answer – especially since it’s difficult to call it a legitimate fashion trend. Surely this can only be taken seriously when, let’s say, 1 in 100 people are walking down the street while wearing a towel.
Ultimately, whether it’s for fashion reasons or not – the towel skirt looks messy. Wearers automatically look like they have no choice but to rush out of the shower because of an emergency. And there’s also the question: why do you need to wear a towel if you’re already wearing pants?
Word of advice: If you are going to commit to this ridiculous fashion trend – at the very least, you shouldn’t wear pants. Create the illusion that you just stepped out of the shower.
