Many pizza makers agree on one thing – there’s nothing like making a pizza from scratch. From kneading the dough to adding the toppings, and putting the finished product into a stone-baked oven – human hands just provide the magic touch.

According to these purists, pizza is one of humanity’s greatest inventions. But one guy is daring to bring technology into his restaurant. And so far, he seems to be reaping the benefits.
The Inventor of “Odd Pizza”
Lee Kindell is the godfather of his very own restaurant – Moto Pizza, and produces something he likes to call “odd pizza.” Just like many of his contemporaries, he loved nothing more than kneading dough and seeing the pizza through from start to finish. But then, he got injured.
It made sense for Lee to start using a dough mixer. Ultimately, he knew that the average customer couldn’t tell the difference between the dough he kneaded and what the mixer produced. For work and health reasons, he decided to make a change.

According to Lee, this was the moment he started to think about how he could integrate robotics and wider technology into his restaurant. Since he started building on this innovation, Lee’s business has skyrocketed – so much so that he has opened multiple locations.
He Started Using the Picnic Pizza Station
Created by a local startup, this ingenious machine is essentially a robot that makes pizza. Its three main functions are that it can knead dough, apply sauce and cheese, and add toppings. What’s amazing is that this machine can make 130 pizzas per hour, with just one employee at the helm. This was the selling point that Lee couldn’t turn down.
And that’s not the only technology Lee has added to his workflow. He’s also in talks to use self-pour drink systems, rolling delivery robots, robotic drive-thru servants, drone delivery systems, and robotic coffee baristas, among others. For Lee, the possibilities are limitless.
