One classic snack that gamers enjoy is the one and only – Doritos. You just can’t go wrong with these addictive tortilla chips. But there is no denying that just one Dorito makes a lot of noise when you bite into it.
In fact, many gamers have taken issue with just how distracting it can be to hear their opponents munching away on Doritos in the middle of an important game. It has cost many gamers a lot of glory over the years.
Thankfully, Doritos has taken note of this complaint and has developed its own AI software to solve the problem, once and for all.
Now, Gamers Can Download Doritos Silent
Yes, there is actually a noise-canceling app that gamers can download and have running in the background during their gaming hours. When the app is activated, gamers can still talk to friends. However, any crunching from their favorite snack will automatically be canceled out.

And the numbers behind the demand are pretty staggering. Apparently, nearly a third of American gamers claim to be distracted by other people’s crunching. What’s more, is that Doritos are the go-to snack for a whopping 85% of gamers.
How Did They Even Create Such a Bizarre Technology?
To solve this chronic problem, Doritos teamed up with design studio Smooth Technology, and after six months of development – the software was ready. The studio used AI technology to pick up on the distinctive sound of Doritos crunching.
In fact, the studio analyzed a whopping 5000 different crunch sounds during development. Upon detection, the software drowns out the sound, preventing it from being transmitted through the microphone to the speaker.
“That unmistakable crunch can often disrupt those intense gaming moments,” lead developer Dylan Fashbaugh said. “Gamers can enjoy the crunch of Doritos without disturbing their fellow players, making for a better gaming experience.”
