Last Chance to See:
Centering a topic that is not sci-fi related, “Last Chance to See” is all about nearly extinct species and the importance of their preservation. Adams lent his talent to this important cause and reports in his signature humoristic style of encounters with animals that might disappear if we don’t do something to prevent it. His humor provides a soft bed to an otherwise harsh topic.
The Dirk Gently series:
Not as popular as “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” Dirk Gently and his Holistic Detective Agency are usually found only in the homes and libraries of diehard Douglas Adams fans. The series only contains two volumes but they did well enough to be translated into multiple languages and even be adapted into a Netflix series!
The Salmon of Doubt:
“The Salmon of Doubt” came out in May 2002, which was precisely one year after Adam’s death. Unlike any of his previously published work, this book is a collection of short stories, letters, and other notes that were found on his computers. We would recommend reading this one after having read both volumes of Dirk Gently as this book contains a part of what would have been the third book in the series had Adams had more time with us on the Mortal plane.
