A Different Play Time
The focus on sustainable playtime for children will take precedence with most parents. Families worldwide are moving to sustainable materials for play, taking the opportunity to educate children about the planet while entertaining them. Education starts at a very young age ( some say, from day one), and it can be reflected through the toys we present, the food we serve, and how we talk.
Screens Are On
Intentional screen time has become the new norm with the rise of online school systems. Instead of guilting children to use electronic devices, the emphasis is on integrating technology into everyday life constructively, so forget about telling your kid off for being too long infront of the screen. Mothers are turning to the internet as an essential resource and support – especially first-time or millennial moms who are less likely to live with family. From support groups and blogs to information on pop-ups, technology has emerged as a critical enabler during their motherhood journey.
Joined Leave
Traditional parenting roles see a complete rehaul as both parents step up to do what it takes to raise a family. More moms are in the workforce, while more dads are taking on more caregiving roles. Maternity leave is no longer a solo woman’s privilege. It can be shared between the two parents, and the father can take it while the mother returns to work.
It’s A Different World
Parenting today is generally more hands-on and over-protective in comparison to the past. Most American parents (62%) say they tend to be overprotective. This is primarily due to the proliferation of social media and technology in their children’s lives. The world is changing, the children are changing, and with no doubt, the parents (and parenting) are changing.
