Everyone loves art. Some would proclaim themselves art lovers and some would either lie or not think about the meaning of what they’re saying. While they may not be the best painter, they can still enjoy music or cooking, which can also be forms of art. So, now that we have established that you all love art, let us introduce you to some art hubs that are not the Louvre. While this Parisian museum has its rightful place at the top of the list, it’s time to shine a light on some other places worth visiting.
Italy
Home to numerous Renaissance artists and artifacts, Italy has spots that are also worth adding to one’s bucket list. The Boboli Gardens of Palazzo Pitti, the luxe footwear collection of Museo Salvatore Ferragamo (because shoes are art, too!), and the overflowing art of Museo dell’Opera del Duomo are such examples.
India
Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is well-known for its well-preserved erotic artworks, so obviously don’t go there if you’re traveling with a child. However, there are also aspects of everyday life in Medieval India featured throughout the place as well, such as farming, music-making, and spiritual practices.
San Francisco
Having reopened in 2016, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art features wide-spaced free admission areas (yay for watching art for free!), a gallery covered in glass walls, and a seventh-floor viewing terrace. Additionally, it boasts an outdoor sculpture exhibit on the third floor.
Mexico
Frida Kahlo fans, this one’s for you. Coyoacan, the bohemian district of Mexico City, served as the home to artist Frida Kahlo. Her house, the Casa Azul, was transformed into an art gallery featuring her furniture, books, personal works, and the art she collected throughout her lifetime.
Seattle
The Seattle Art Museum boasts a vigorous collection of special exhibits. One example was the “Intimate Impressionism from the National Gallery of Art,” which featured over 70 works from the likes of Van Gogh, Renoir, and Monet. So many classics in one place! How exciting!
