A bubbly cauldron of cosmic proportions
The Boiling Lake on Dominica Island is made up of boiling water that’s dangerous for anyone to even step foot into. The cloudy blue surface has magma underneath and the temperature can rise up to 197 degrees Fahrenheit. It can (and it will) essentially cook anything that falls in.

Swarming with creatures to avoid
The Amazon Basin is risky because of the dangerous underwater creatures that lurk in its waters. Sharks are a reason to stay away from this body of water. You can spot these creatures all around South America’s Amazon Basin.

Snappers and stingers
Darwin in Australia is risky because of the jellyfish that reside there. While many beaches have jellyfish, Darwin also has saltwater crocodiles. The combination of the box jellyfish and crocodiles is enough to make it a no-swimming spot.

No swimming in the forbidden soda
Mono Lake in California has been stripped of all its vital resources, which makes it an extremely toxic place to swim in. Its rising levels of elements and carbonates (that means that it’s bubbly, like soda) make it unfit and harmful to human beings.

Volcanic lake to steer clear of
Lake Nyos is located in the center of an inactive volcano in Cameroon. From afar, it looks like a picturesque lake. But at the same time, the air releases up to 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide. That means that you should also avoid the surrounding area if you enjoy breathing oxygen.
