She's tried it all, and she recommends veneers over caps to her followers. Back when she became famous – all the way back in the seventies – she had four front teeth that looked like the busted keys of a broken piano, but thanks to all the work she's had done, they're now out-of-the-box perfect.

Emma Watson

How bad were Watson's teeth? While she was filming some of the “Harry Potter” movies, she had to wear fake teeth. That bad. Her teeth were chipped and uneven and an unattractive yellow color. Far from the perfect teeth we're used to on the screen. Today, however, her teeth and smile are both perfect. After years of work with braces, whiteners, and over options, she got the star-quality smile that is always a help to a person's movie career.

Across the pond, dental health means something a little different – while in the United States, it's seen as best to have straight, white teeth, in the United Kingdom, it isn't. It's why the British cliché of nasty teeth first appeared.

Tom Cruise

The right dental work can change a person's face from a brutish thug to a mega-star, and there's no better example than that of Tom Cruise. In one of Cruise's first roles, he played Steve Randle, a tough greaser in Francis Ford Coppola's “The Outsiders.” The movie came out in 1983, and after filming was done, Cruise let the dentists get to work.

His smile looks much better now, but it isn't flawless – if you look at enough pictures of Cruise (and we have, trust us), you'll notice that one of his incisors is right in the center of his face.

David Beckham

David Beckham has gone from a long-haired grunt with crooked teeth and a big smile to a short-haired, tattooed celeb whose big smile now has a perfect set. A fine wine grows better with age, they say, and this is a pretty good example. One of the first things that Beckham got done to make him a mainstream star and not just a legendary footballer was work on his teeth.

His boyish grin contained crooked, uneven teeth. The standard set of whitening and veneers helped get everything into order, so now he's not only physically gifted, but he's gifted in the looks department as well.

LeAnn Rimes

Few have had a longer road to dental perfection than LeAnn Rimes. This singer, songwriter, actress, and author has had lots of work done to get her Hollywood teeth, starting in the nineties with cosmetic work. It went well, but she ended up suing her dentist. From 2009 to 2012, she got a number of veneers, crowns, and other work, but she later claimed that all the work caused her severe pain and chronic dental troubles – things that made it impossible for her to sing.

She's now had a staggering thirty dental surgeries, and while her smile looks wonderful now, we wonder if Rimes was tempted to just throw the whole deal away and just go with her natural teeth.

Zac Efron

A gap-toothed grin is adorable when a young lad is still in the growing stages, but once that young lad wants to be a big grown-up movie star, the look loses its popularity. Zac Efron had this issue, which is why he had to have so much work done to his smile as he grew older. With braces, bleaching, and blonding, the once-Disney star now has a perfect set of teeth.

Unlike many of the stars on this list, he didn't get veneers (unless there's something he's not telling us), which means his smile is a little more natural. His grin is still a little lopsided thanks to his lips and muscles, but that can't really be changed. Plus, it's kinda cool.

Demi Moore

A lot of the celebs on this list have common problems like crooked teeth or stained enamel. Moore, however, had those and more – her front teeth fell out due to stress. It forced her to not only get dental work done but also needed to change up her life. Even the teeth that didn't fall out were uneven and yellow.

After plenty of work, she now has two perfect rows of shiny teeth, and she's made changes to her life to keep them in better shape. We hope she's flossing. A lot of people think that she looks better now than she did when she was younger, and her smile is a big reason why.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo had humble beginnings. Born in Portugal, this lad had no idea he was going to grow up to be the first billionaire soccer player in the world. His teeth certainly didn't since they decided to stick out at odd angles like a pile of clay bricks. Success in the world of soccer allowed him to invest in his appearance and get the work done to make his teeth a little easier to look at.

His teeth went from crooked – practically jagged – and yellow to perfectly straight and perfectly white. According to the man himself, it took a lot of expensive and painful work: extractions, braces, wiring, whitening, and veneers.

Gwen Stefani

Most of us consider braces to be a childhood thing, but there are plenty of people who have to suffer through them during adulthood, too. Gwen Stefani is one such celebrity who wanted to make sure her teeth were aligned even though she could drink or drive. Not at the same time, of course.

Throw in some veneers and whitening, and her smile was ready to be famous. Pale skin, bright red lipstick, and a set of chompers that are practically glowing helped make it easy for people to recognize this star anywhere.

Taylor Swift

Looking at the “before” picture, you might wonder why Swift thought she needed work done – her smile looked lovely framed by the curls of her early career. She didn't intend to get work done.

During a live performance in 2013, she was a bit careless with her microphone, chipping one of her own front teeth. She had urgent dental care done to add a cap, and she also took the opportunity for a touch of straightening and whitening, which has now given her an even more perfect smile.

Hilary Duff

It turns out that more than a few singers and performing artists have had the bad fortune of needing work done thanks to their mics. It's even considered a “common workplace injury.” It's happened to Hilary Duff multiple times until she invested in toughening up her teeth.

She first got veneers that were too big – which lead to a certain rabbit look that you might recognize on some celebrity – but her second try at getting those whites pearly did the trick. Her teeth are shiny, an appropriate size, and fitting to extend her beauty.

Celine Dion

Whether it's age before beauty or the other way around, Celine Dion gets to go first. She changes up her look with the switching decades, but she's also at the height of style. She didn't have terrible teeth, to begin with, but they certainly weren't at the superstar level they are now. Her mouth was a bit crowded, and like all-natural teeth, they had some discoloration.

She was once Sporty Spice of the legendary girl group "Spice Girls," but she's come a long way from her tomboy days when she was constantly in front of the camera. Matthew Lewis

The name might not ring a bell, but actor Matthew Lewis played the chubby, hapless friend to the main three in the “Harry Potter” movies, and he's the proud owner of one of the greatest transformations we've seen in recent years. From an awkward kid with crooked teeth to a dreamboat with pearly whites and piercing, light eyes, you'd never know he was the one Hermione Granger froze solid in the first movie.

He has the true A-list look thanks to sparkling veneers and all the other work he's had done. He's ready for his starring roles with a grin like that one. We already know his acting skills are top-notch.

Nicole Kidman

We've already seen lots of celebs that have a mess of a mouth and really needed the work done. There are also some who had perfectly reasonable teeth – just not perfect. Actress Nicole Kidman's teeth had an inward slant to them, which can lead to jaw or gum issues, but we're not going to say they looked bad with teeth like Cher's on the list.

Lindsay Lohan

We all know that Lohan was one of the legendary party girls of the new millennium. It turns out that taking certain substances and partying all night long can take a heavy toll on your teeth. Lindsay's smile had become chipped, yellowed, and was decaying faster than before thanks to her lifestyle and even the coffee she drank to recover from those long nights.

While some think she might have gotten a nose job, aging sometimes thins out the nose as the round look of childhood disappears.

Even teeth-wise, all that Lively has had to do to get that winning smile we all know and love with some whitening. And who is strong enough among us to resist the call of some whiter teeth?

Victoria Beckham

It's a little more difficult to find pictures of Victoria Beckham, once known as Posh Spice, while she's smiling than you might think. We all laughed at him during the nineties. Whether it was in “The Mask,” “Dumb and Dumber,” or “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” we all caught a glimpse of the chipped tooth right at the front of his face. With natural beauty and a wonderful singing voice, Cheryl Cole was destined for great things. She's one of England's most beloved singers and has also appeared on the British version of “The X Factor,” but even she had to deal with a mouth full of mismatched teeth. Once her music career got off the ground, like so many other celebs, she went under the knife to remove any and all imperfections.

At just sixteen years old, Lloyd was one of the auditions on “The X Factor” that lots of people searched out after the fact. She was covered in makeup, wore ripped jeans, and had plenty of attitude, but she still charmed people with her rendition of “Turn My Swag On.” She's now a world-famous singer with three studio albums out to enjoy.

Her teeth, however, weren't ready for the pop star life. Cher had always hated her teeth – they were quite jagged – so when she found herself with enough funds and a good reason to work on her appearance, she signed up for all the traditional tactics for a nice set of teeth.

Morgan Freeman

The Free-Man was one of the few leading guys – really, one of the few people – who didn't have to rely on his looks to get by. Of course, that's not to say he isn't handsome in his unique way. He just has an untraditional look. He's played plenty of wise, serious characters, including even "God."

As one of the members of the popular girl group Girls Aloud that rose in the void left by the "Spice Girls," Nicola Roberts rose to fame in the early 2000s. It formed thanks to a televised talent show, and Roberts proved she had the pipes to make it big. She also had flaming red hair and beautiful blue eyes – she was destined for fame.

Only her teeth kept held her back from that glistening all-star status. Once she joined the rest of the Girls Aloud group, she got to benefit from all those industry beauty pros, including whitening and straightening her teeth. Her unique smile is still there, but now it contains perfect teeth.

George Clooney

Few men have been so clearly blessed with good looks as George Clooney. He went from a heartthrob doctor in “ER” to a silver fox leading man in plenty of Hollywood movies. His teeth have always looked good, but good is one thing; great is another. With a total cost of thirty grand, his teeth are now just as brilliant as he is.

Most of the cost comes from a set of pricey porcelain veneers, which ranks as one of the most expensive pieces of dental work that can be done. Clooney has also had gum laser treatment to expose more of his teeth and even up the gumline.

Ronan Keating

Even heartthrobs can have uneven, messy teeth – especially if they come from the United Kingdom. As part of the popular nineties boy band Boyzone, Keating has plenty going for him – good looks, great singing, success – but his teeth were always a bit of a bother.

Like a lot of the other young men and women who found their place in the entertainment business, Keating went through surgery and changes to make himself into a more marketable star, and the focus was on his teeth. After some quality dental work, Ronan now has a winning smile.

50 Cent

Best known as 50 Cent, Curtis James Jackson III has been teased about his teeth all his life – even after he got big when another rapper teased him about them in a song. The corrective work cost more than sixty thousand dollars. His teeth weren't really that bad – a bit oversized for his face, and with a gap between the incisors, but really nothing terrible.

Eventually, he got things fixed up, but he didn't want to get the false veneers that a lot of celebs go for. Instead, he just whitened and straightened the teeth. He also closed the gap, but they're still his teeth.

Steve-O

In the 2000s, we got a bunch of fearless, frankly, stupid guys who pulled pranks and tried stunts that could have easily landed them in the hospital – and often did – or worse. Stephen Gilchrist Glover, known better as Steve-O, was one of the gutsier members of the group. He was a talented stunt man and managed to make it through his time on “Jackass,” spending plenty of time in the hospital.

He also spent plenty of time with certain substances that not only affected his mind and voice but stained and mangled his teeth at the same time. He's doing much better now, and he used some of that MTV money from his shows and movies to get himself a new set of chompers.

Megan Fox

It's impossible to say that Megan Fox has been anything other than gorgeous, so it's a bit of a puzzle when you find out that she had her teeth whitened and straightened. Basically, anybody could get teeth that are whiter and straighter, but even compared to some of the people with better teeth on this list, her set looks fine.

Hollywood demands a certain amount of perfection, of course, so Fox got her set straightened up even more and whitened to a fine, glowing shade. Such bright teeth go well with Megan's darker skin, making her look even better than before.

David Bowie

As a legend in the music scene, Bowie didn't really need to rely on perfectly straight teeth to make sure he was well-loved. While he was blessed with groundbreaking musical talent, he still had some uneven teeth. Even if he didn't need them, it should come as no surprise that someone of his fame decided to get a set of porcelain veneers.

Remember, these are the really expensive ones, but they basically make whitening a non-problem. It's also why only the rich and famous are able to shell out the cash for such a procedure.

Cardi B

The path Cardi B took to fame is an odd one. Born Belcalis Almanzar, she grew up in the Bronx, got her start as an exotic dancer, and rose to real fame thanks to the social media platform Vine. We're not entirely sure how she became so famous, but here we are.

Suddenly this normal girl was ultra-rich and ultra-famous, which meant she had enough money and plenty of good reason to fix up her teeth, which were pretty uneven. She paid something like forty thousand dollars for all the work, and from her big smile, she seems pleased with the result.

Meghan Markle

It seems we're never going to get tired of talking about Markle. She married into the royal family, but she now seems to be on the outs with the queen and experiences ongoing tensions with the royal family.

While her personal and public life is all kinds of up in the air now, her teeth look perfect after getting some braces and whitening done when she started to make it big as an actress. Before the treatments, she had a little bit of a gap in her teeth and a bit uneven, but now she's as pretty as an ex-princess can be.

Millie Bobby Brown

She's one of the best up-and-coming stars in Hollywood these days, getting her start by blowing everyone away in the first season of "Stranger Things" when she was only twelve. Once again, the curse of British dentistry strikes again – yes, she's British.

After her breakout role, she realized that the sky was the limit, but she could always use a little bit of help. We know by now that it can seem difficult to get a big career in Hollywood unless you have perfect teeth, and for a young actress who doesn't want to waste her big chance, it was an easy choice to make to get work done.

Demi Lovato

Demi clearly wanted to get some work done on their teeth to make sure they have all the tools necessary to be big, but there are plenty of people that consider Demi's original smile to be just as good. While their new teeth look nice, they're just more of the same – perfectly straight, perfectly white, and perfectly without character.

Their original smile was a teensy bit uneven but nowhere near like it was something that had to be fixed. However, Demi has been known to struggle in the spotlight when it comes to horrible trolls commenting on weight. This was probably a result of more spotlight pressures.

It's hard to have a normal childhood when your aunt is someone as famous as Julia Roberts and her dad, Eric, is almost as famous. Emma was born into the Hollywood elite, and it looks like that's where she's going to stay. Roberts is following in her Aunt's footsteps as a beauty that is charming people on and off the stage.

But her teeth needed a little touch to get them matching some of our Hollywood favorites. Looking at her now, we can definitely see that classic Roberts smile.

In 2012 James Arthur stepped onto the stage on “The X Factor” and blew everyone away. He sang judge Tulisa's song “Young,” and it was just the beginning for this future star. He went on to win the competition and evolved into a big name in the music biz.

Like so many others before and after him, he decided to get his teeth fixed from their quite crooked and uneven state into something much more attractive. However, he didn't go as deep as a lot of other stars, staying away from veneers and whitening and settling just for getting them all in a row.

Matthew Perry

You know him from your repeated viewings of "Friends." Perry was one of six lucky young actors to star in the show that would win a decade of work and be in one of the most famous sitcoms ever. Even considering the fame that Jennifer Aniston has achieved, Perry is considered to be one of the more talented actors on the show.

At the start of the show, you could see that his teeth weren't very even, though they didn't really distract. After a little while – and some time with dental-destroying illicit substances – he decided to clean things up.

Kylie Jenner

It should come as no surprise that the members of the Jenner/Kardashian family have gotten plenty of work done, including on their teeth. Visual perfection was something that the entire extended clan wanted to achieve, which means that some of the many millions of dollars the families have gone toward getting Kylie a perfect set, as well as plenty of other upgrades.

The strange thing here is that Kylie's teeth looked quite wonderful before the work. But, wonderful just wasn't good enough, so it was off to Los Angeles to get the best shiny white veneers that all that money could buy.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Being in the right spot at the right time can make or break a Hollywood career, which is what Jonathan Rhys Meyers found out when he was fourteen. He was ditching class with some friends, and a talent scout spotted him. Jonathan's striking good looks helped him launch a modeling career, which naturally turned into acting.

Being raised by a single mom, Meyers didn't have the kind of cash-on-hand to get the white smile that other actors have or even standard dental care. Once he started to make it big, of course, he could afford plenty for himself and his dear old mum, and he now sports a set of perfect veneers.

Kirsten Dunst

Starting out as a child actress, Dunst has managed to avoid the pitfalls that a lot of celebs fall into and has kept her career going for decades. She's made plenty of unique choices over the years, including not getting too much work done on her teeth. She was always quite happy with them but knew that a little bit of work would keep her getting roles.

She got an extra boost thanks to a little bit of straightening and whitening to go along with her pretty smile. Dunst is no longer spending much time in the limelight since she's now a busy mom, but she still does some TV work.
