Thankfully, someone realized that a lot of it has to do with the flavors surrounding the vessel we drink from. Of course, water is flavorless, and pretty much smells like nothing too. But if you were convinced that it smelled good, wouldn’t you be more inclined to drink it?

That’s the message behind the genius Flavoured Water Bottle created by AirUp. This plastic, see-through container looks like any other water bottle on the market. But when you start to put the pieces together, the magic behind this awesome invention is crystal clear.
What Makes AirUp’s Water Bottle So Special?
What separates the AirUp water bottle from others is the fact that it has a “flavored” bottle top. No, before you get too excited, you can’t eat the bottle. That would make no sense whatsoever and would be extremely dangerous.
Also, AirUp doesn’t make your water flavored, it simply creates the illusion that you are. You’re supposed to feel that the water you’re drinking is flavored.
How Exactly Does AirUp Work?
At the core of AirUp’s groundbreaking technology is its ability to “harness retronasal smell.” At least, that’s how the company articulates it in its press release.

When you buy an AirUP pack, you get the bottle itself, the bottle top, the spout, and a variety of flavor pods. These flavors include exotic, garden fruit, citrus, berry, and “herbal & floral.”
Then, you take your flavor pod of choice and insert it into the bottle top. And as you start to drink the flavorless water, you get the scent of the pod, which ultimately convinces you that what you’re drinking is citrusy, exotic, or whatever flavor you choose.
Let’s make one thing clear – you can add flavored water to the bottle. But that’s not the point. You’re supposed to add flavorless water.
The main initiative of AirUp is to promote the rise in the consumption of pure water. Enough of the soda. Enough of the flavored water with whatever additives it has! AirUp wants its customers to benefit from the purest of the pure. If that means tricking their tastebuds and sense of smell, then so be it.
